Flour reaches bakeries in Gaza's Deir al-Balah

Gaza-based journalist Tareq Abu Azzoum reported on Thursday that bakeries supported by the World Food Programme (WFP) had resumed limited operations after an 11-week blockade forced them to halt.

It came after Israel allowed 90 aid trucks into Gaza the day beforehand amid intense international pressure to lift its siege of the strip, where 58 people have died from malnutrition and 242 due to a lack of food and medicine.

Israel said it would allow "basic" aid into Gaza for "diplomatic reasons" amid backlash from the roughly 53 percent of Israelis opposed to lifting the blockade, according to a poll by Israel's Channel 13. Some Israelis had gathered at the border to prevent aid entering.
