Stimulus Check Update | Round 2 $1,200 (PASSED?)

Today, we are covering all stimulus check updates and other related updates that we have as of May 21.

At least 38 states across the US are reopening or lifting restrictions on stay at home orders and businesses being closed.  

The HEROES Act that was passed in the House last week probably won’t even reach the Senate until after Memorial Day. Although it has been marked as Dead On Arrival, we will see if it becomes a starting ground for some sort of second stimulus bill.  There have been many different reactions from Congress about the HEROES Act. Although the HEROES Act has been called a “liberal wishlist,” it passed the House. It is predicted to be dead on arrival to the Senate but may be the start to talking negotiations for some type of second stimulus. The likelihood that we see a second round of stimulus checks remains up in the air. Americans still haven’t received their first stimulus check and Congress is in no rush to come to an agreement on another form of stimulus.

The Department of Treasury is sending out 4 million “Economic Impact Payments (EIP) Cards to people who qualify for a stimulus check. These cards work very similarly to any normal card and can be used at online, at ATMs, or wherever Visa is accepted. The cards will be sent by MetaBank to those whose tax returns were processed in the Andover or Austin IRS Service Center.
