ZX Spectrum 48K Repair - Lower RAM and a Very Unhappy Little Diode

Next on the repair pile is this Issue 3 board in a Spectrum+ case.
I manage to diagnose this without a ROM or any solder, which is good for a lazy day. However, one of the components I put into the power circuit upgrade was bad....
