Muslims claim that Quran 2:256 says that they cannot compel anyone to become Muslim. This leads those who deal with them that they will accept their diverse religious beliefs indefinitely. And, most Muslims believe that this is what Islam teaches. However, it is clear from later writers in this passage is replaced by the Quran passages that tell Muslims to compel others to convert to Islam, be subjugated, or die.
