Celebrations in Doda : Supporters Hit the Streets as HC Quashes PSA of MLA Mehraj Malik

A wave of celebration has swept across the Doda constituency following the historic decision by the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh to quash the Public Safety Act (PSA) detention of MLA Mehraj Malik.
The AAP legislator, who had been in preventive custody since September 2025, has been granted major relief after the court set aside his detention order today. As news of the legal victory reached his home district, hundreds of supporters and party workers took to the roads in Doda to celebrate with firecrackers and slogans, hailing the verdict as a triumph of justice.
Mehraj Malik, the lone AAP representative in the J&K Assembly, was being held at Kathua District Jail. His legal team successfully challenged the detention via a habeas corpus petition, arguing that the charges lacked merit. With the PSA now quashed, the MLA is expected to return to his people shortly.
