Hey everyone! Today Kate, and this is her sad story about her dad's mistake that destroyed her family.
"Our family was very good in everything. My mother was a housewife. She did a brilliant housework. My dad was a scientist and a teacher. And I am their daughter. I am smart, I am a good student and a very beautiful girl.
My parents’ relationships always seemed to me something special. Love was something for me that happened only once and for all. They loved each other just like in the books – strongly, crazily and passionately. Of course, they quarrelled sometimes, but mostly they would sit in the yard in the evening holding their hands like teenagers. My dad read his poems to mom and she blushed and got embarrassed…
But my parents loved me more than each other. If there was a competition «who loves the child more», they would definitely become winners. I had everything I wanted. That’s why I didn't want anything. And I preferred reading books rather than talking to other teenagers. At least, books had some miracle in them.
When I was 15 I began to notice that everything was not so perfect in our life. My parents' relationships were too much alike the ones in the novels I read. Things just couldn’t be so perfect in real life, right? Because my dad frequently disappeared in business trips, so there wasn’t the «eternal love».
At some point, I noticed that each time my father would leave for a business trip for a little longer than before.
Well, no need to be Sherlock Holmes to guess that a professor of molecular physics wouldn’t need to go on too many business trips. Of course, there are some symposiums and reports but… several times a week? I got scared, and I immediately rushed to my parents and asked a point-blank.
When we talked my parents disproved all my arguments. Later on, dad was stopped going somewhere too often, and my mum began to smile naturally again.
I was just about to go to the seaside camp. And mum was going to the country to my grandma to help her to repair the house. So dad didn't text it to my mom? But whom? It was my own little hell. Should I tell it to my parents or act as if nothing had happened?
I wish I hadn't. When I showed my parents the SMS, they confessed that my dad had another woman and another family for more than 4 years. Mom knew about it, but there was nothing she could do. They lived together only because they didn't want to upset me. Now that I knew, there's no point in hiding anymore, and my dad would go to another woman.
What about the «perfect life» and the «perfect love»? Why did my father, my role model and the «perfect man» do this to us? I cried in my room all days long and I refused to eat or see anyone. Of course, I didn't go to the camp. My parents had been constantly knocking at my door, but it was no good.
Finally, my dad gave up – he slammed the door and left, reminding me I could call him any time. I heard my mother crying outside my room. I was able to get out of the room into the cruel world. Me and my mum cried so much together that day… We had so much tears that we could easily compete with the deepest lake in the world.
And then we had to learn how to start our life from a scratch, without dad. He called every day, he came, he gave us money, but I couldn't accept him any more.
Honestly, I didn’t forgive him. The thing was not that he left and betrayed me and my mum. He had been deceiving me and my mum for years. I guess, if you constantly teach your child to tell the truth but then you lie for 4 years - that’s ridiculous! I wouldn’t see a good man in him as I used to".
