An ideal operational amplifier (op-amp) has the following characteristics:
- Infinite voltage gain: Amplifies the input signal to an infinite degree
- Infinite input impedance: No current flows into the op-amp
- Zero output impedance: All amplified signals are available to the load
- Infinite bandwidth: The op-amp's operation is not affected by the frequency of the input signal
- Infinite slew rate: The op-amp can change its output instantaneously
- Zero offset voltage: The output voltage is zero when the voltage difference between the inverting and non-inverting inputs is zero
- Infinite common-mode rejection ratio: The op-amp can only respond to the difference between the voltages at both ends of V+ and V-
