Why Did These Boats Change History?

The Patrol Boat, River (PBR), nicknamed "The Killing Machine," was the swift, fiberglass workhorse of the Brown Water Navy in the Vietnam War. Operating under Operation Game Warden, the PBR used its shallow draft and heavy armament (twin .50-calibers, grenade launchers) to patrol the narrow, ambush-prone waterways of the Mekong Delta. Crewed by daring "River Rats," it interdicted enemy supplies, supported SEAL teams, and became the icon of modern riverine warfare.
