Railroad Switchback Action, Short Line Railroads, Indiana & Ohio Railway, I&O Greenfield Ohio Train

Short line railroad switching moves on the Indiana And Ohio Railway, IORY, at the Greenfield Ohio switchback. The railroad needed to switch the customer at the end of the line. The customer is located on the old Detroit, Toledo & Ironton Railroad, DT&I. The DT&I was removed in the 80s but a little piece was kept for this customer with access coming from the old Baltimore & Ohio, B&O mainline that crossed over the DT&I here at Greenfield, Ohio. The old B&O line was removed from this location east all the way to Belpre, Ohio. This line is now owned by the town of Greenfield and leased to Indiana & Ohio Railway, I&O. The line now ends at the customer and tracks from both railroads were combined to reach this customer. This video shows the train coming off the B&O connecting track and going all the way to the very end of the line. Then it reverses down the old DT&I main line to reach the 2 sidings on the customer property. There is still a switch on the old DT&I with over a mile of track that ends at a quarry and from that point on the tracks through Ohio were abandoned and removed. After the I&O finished their work, the train is seen returning westbound through Greenfield. The 3 train shots in this video were done by my friend who isn't a railfan but he likes photography. The rest of the video was shot by me. I posted a similar video of this over a month ago. My friend gave me his video to use instead of just deleting it. If you look closely you might see me in the video. One more interesting thing about this railroad is that CSX sold it to the town of Greenfield. Although the line loses money it is needed because it saves over a thousand jobs for an area that is remote and has high unemployment. The current speed limit is only 10mph but grant money was recently awarded to replace ties and do railroad crossing improvements. This will increase the track speed up to 25mph. This line runs from Midland, Ohio to Greenfield, Ohio which is 29.5 route miles. Listen in on 161.295 and 161.220 . Filmed August 25, 2020. Thanks for watching!
