Released on Friday the 13th, the Stoics quickly sold out. The deck is printed by the Expert Playing Card Co in there China facility to the dismay of some and features a new experimental ‘JN’ finish modeled after the extremely rare Jerry’s Nugget Casino Playing Cards.

As a result the finish is smoother than a bicycle deck for instance. Fans are a bit harder to pull off. The stock is snappier and the cards feel denser and a bit heavier.

The cards come stacked in Mnemonica Deck order and feature covertly bolded indexes on one end of each card, facilitating tricks using one-way orientations. Perhaps most controversially, the Stoics are also a stripper deck--despite no mention of this feature at the time of initial sale,

The court cards, designed by Mark Stutzman, are once again altered with the faces of some of Blaines’ friends and colleagues, including Blaine himself on the King of Spades.
