#Starlux airlines is a funny little airline. This new Taiwanese carrier has placed an emphasis on providing a high-quality cabin product at a moderate price, in the same vein as airlines like JetBlue. The airline had a lot going for it: not only was it founded by the former chairman of Eva Air, but it was also set to launch during a time of sustained growth in aviation demand.

Unfortunately, the airline launched service January 23rd, 2020 - only a month before COVID19 shut down most air travel in Asia. Starlux was caught in the virus's crosshair, and what was once a promising young airline is now facing serious financial uncertainty. But despite what's happened to Starlux, there's a case to be made that these dark days for aviation might actually present the *ideal* opportunity to start an airline. Let me explain…
