Exploring the MALDIVES on CHEAP BUDGET!

Exploring the Maldives on a Backpacker Budget. We explore Maafushi, Guraidhoo Ghuli and Fulidhoo Island in the Atole. All prices are included in the video to show how cheap you can now get around the Maldives and share the exact same experiences as those in the fancy resorts! Also see a us go on a Nurse shark tour which also surprised us with swimming with dolphins and sting rays and Kandooma and other dive sites.

Itinerary:
Male to Maafushi direct by speed boat with icon tours for $20.
We stayed in Island cottage which was lovely for about $40 a night (split 3 ways). Maafushi is quite built up but a good place to start exploring and to access other more quiet and scenic islands.

Day tour with icom tours to swim with nurse sharks, dolphins, sting rays, see a sand bank and visit a local island - 40$ - and well worth it!-

4 nights on Guraidhoo island. Accessible from Maafushi by $2 ferry or by speed boat for $7. Times vary each day but very easy to sort out the night before through accommodation. Gorgeous bikini beach/private small island joined to the main island.

Stayed at Luxury Beach $80 a night (for 3 bed room) which was amazing! Highly recommend.

Diving on Guraidhoo for $35-40 with Manta Divers - again would highly recommend.

Get your money out at the airport for Maldivian Rufiyaa or take dollars. Both work well and we found the exchange rate to work quite well.

Getting to other atolls will involve a trip back to Male first so can begin to add up if you want to explore the greater area. For islands further away eg. Rasdhoo expect to pay more like $80 speed boat costs.

Check times of year for Whale Sharks and Manta Rays and if you're desperate to see them then plan to head to atolls. Whale shark tours start at $100 day trip or just be lucky on a dive or boat trip.
