"Place" by Mar | Taryn Cheng Choreography

This piece comes from a place of tension. These past few months of post-grad life have been incredibly slow for me, career wise. While a lot of my peers are working full-time jobs, I'm still very much pursuing a stable income in what I'm passionate about. There has been so much anxiety in comparing myself to others. Questions about if I'm doing enough to “make it.⁣”

In this downtime, my pride is being challenged, but I would rather be patient than prideful. I constantly worry about my future, but I forget the importance of serving, loving, and just being there for others in the present. Besides, even in this time of scarcity for my personal career, there are so many things to be grateful for.

This piece is about being in the stillness.⁣
