But the giant crocs that we know today, like the 20-foot-long saltwater crocodiles and the intimidating hunters lurking in the Nile River, don’t even come close to the monstrous beasts that scientists have just found in lurking in the African swamp. A team of researchers uncovered evidence in the middle of the Tunisian desert that could change how we see crocodiles, and could make us stay as far away from Africa as possible.
