Jamdani is a symbol of Bangladeshi heritage and cultural identity, and it's often worn during national events and celebrations. Early mentions of Jamdani can be traced back to ancient Bengal, with the Arthashastra (an ancient Indian book of economics) mentioning a fine cloth from the region around 300 AD. The name "Jamdani" itself is believed to be of Persian origin, meaning "flower vase" or "floral motifs. The Mughal emperors, particularly during the 17th century, became avid patrons of Jamdani, recognizing its unique beauty and delicate craftsmanship.
