River Harmon and Karlee Martin - Aging Out Shag Dance

It was summer. The beach had cleared after a thunderstorm, and a perfect moment was about to unfold on the sand in front of the Ocean Dive Pavillion in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

With the air clear, the sun beaming hot, and the cool wind blowing across the foaming ocean waves, Karlee Martin danced the Shag with Pro Shag Dancer River Harmon for her "aging out" dance as a part of the 2021 Junior SOS, the world's largest junior dance event.

The Shag is South Carolina's state dance, and it is said that those who experience the Shag once can make memories that last a lifetime.
