Pismo beach dunes, ATV/Quad/ORV rental, places to eat/stay and more to 1970 rock

Visit Pismo Beach and the Oceano Dunes. We show you renting dune buggies also known as Off Road Vehicles (ORV), All Terrain Vehicles (ATV) and Quads. See the only place in California where you can drive cars on the beach. There is also a great nature preserve and beach pier plus we review places to eat and stay. Come along for the journey.

We play in the Oceano Dunes which is near Pacific Dunes Ranch RV Resort or accessed behind the famous pole 2 ATV rental location. We check out driving cars on the beach at the Grover Beach Grand Ave entrance to the beach area. We rent ATV/Quad dune buggies from Steve's on Pier Ave and go on a wild ride through the dunes. We show you the Pismo Pier and beach before checking out Cottage Inn by the Sea, Old West Cinnamon Rolls, Honeymoon Cafe and Giuseppe's Cucina Italiana.

Here is a tip for accessing the nature preserve dunes. You can drive or walk to pole 2 and cross over to the non ATV area or you can drive down Silver Spur road in Oceano to Pacific Dunes Ranch RV resort. Park in the area outside the RV resort and walk through the RV park to access the public dunes area.

Be advised is there is limited capacity for driving onto the beach so go early or if renting an ATV take the shuttle to pole 2.

There are 3 public camping areas on or adjacent to the beach.

This area has been a play land since the early 1900s and became infamous with the introduction of dune buggies in the 1950s. To save that heritage check out friends of the oceano dunes website.
