Automakers are developing solar powered vehicles in order eliminate some of the Achilles heel of battery powered vehicles such as battery recharging time and range anxiety. Although the jury is still out on solar powered cars, but this doesn’t stop automakers from developing the technology. Upcoming solar cars include Lightyear One which has its roof and hood fitted with solar cells; Sion, a hybrid electric car that recharges itself with solar energy; Stella Ersa—a self-driving car, Hyundai Sonata Hybrid with a solar roof system, Squad solar charging car which can only ferry two people at a go, Humble One and the Aptera Paradigm—a spaceship-like three wheelers solar car.
