"Take one step on that rope and I'll cut it!"

Loony Tunes is animated at 12 frames per second (FPS), but each unique drawing is copied for two frames, making the production play at 24 FPS. However, action-heavy scenes, such as pulling a continent via rope, are animated at 24 FPS, with every frame having a unique drawing. To confirm this information, download a Loony Tunes clip and place it in a video editor to look at each frame!

I attempted to fully recreate this style, with the beginning at 12 FPS and the action at 24 FPS. As can be seen, it resulted in choppier animation at the beginning. This is because the movements of my figures were far more dynamic compared to the movements of the cartoon.

The lesson learned is to animate subtly during scenes that don't require a lot of action or movement. I've been trying to practice this technique outside of this project as well, so hopefully my skills will improve for future animations!
