Cabomba, Anoxic filters and Guppies lots of them

My cabomba has again grown to the water surface and is also blocking some lighting.
In the past I either trimmed and replant them with just the 3 in of the top part-crowns or replant together with the lower part- side crowns side by side.
This time I will just trim off the crowns and let the remainder regrow. I want to see how well the remainder grow with its well established roots system. I have not disturb the planter at all.
A surprising event happened while I was working on the cabomba on the left. I used to think my guppies will gather at the top right coner because it is like their cultivated instinct. But my guppies followed me to the left.
