THROWBACK: Cris Cyborg makes Featherweight for first time in the UFC ahead of Championship fight

On this date: July 28th, 2017 Cris Cyborg officially weighed in for a fight with the UFC Ultimate Fighting Championship for the first time in her natural weight class of 145lbs featherweight. A 13 year unbeaten featherweight, Cyborg competed in 2 superfights for the UFC at a catchweight of 140lbs before being medically advised that competing at such a low weight was medically unsafe. While recovering from an extreme weight cut caused by UFC FN 95 Cyborg was unable to participate at UFC 208 where Germaine De Randamie captured the inaugural UFC Women's Featherweight Championship by defeating Holly Holm despite having not competed at 145lbs in 4 years--losing her last bout at that weight. Unable to come to terms with the UFC for a matchup against Cyborg, GDR would eventually vacate the World Championship--forcing the UFC to match Cristiane Justino Cyborg against Invicta FC Champion Tonya Evinger in a bout Cyborg would win in the 3rd round by TKO.
