Why People Click But Don’t Buy #shorts
One thing I keep learning in marketing…
A lot of people obsess over getting more clicks without understanding what the clicks are saying.
CTR - click-through rate - is really just a signal.
It tells you:
“How many people saw this… and felt interested enough to take the next step?”
That matters.
Because attention is expensive now. (Am I right or am I right?)
If people are clicking, your ad probably communicated something clearly:
a problem
a curiosity gap
a desired outcome
a compelling offer
And here’s where it gets juicy.
A strong CTR with weak conversions usually means there’s a disconnect somewhere after the click.
The ad says one thing.
The landing page feels like another thing.
The expectation breaks.
And trust drops fast online.
Most people think marketing is about persuasion.
A lot of the time it’s actually about alignment.
Does the message match the offer?
Does the promise match the experience?
Does the landing page continue the conversation the ad started?
That’s why good marketing feels smooth.
There’s no confusion.
No bait and switch.
No “wait… this isn’t what I thought I clicked on.”
I’m still learning this too, especially how much simplicity impacts performance.
I have found when conversion rates are struggling, the answer isn’t:
“Make it louder.”
It’s:
“Make it clearer.”
What’s funny is the businesses that convert the best often aren’t the flashiest.
They’re just the easiest to understand.
Some quotes around this idea that I like are:
Clear not clever
Never confuse the customer
