Suede, 'Wastelands' @ Rough Trade East, London, 21.9.18

Today is the official release day of Suede's new album, 'The Blue Hour'. I was lucky to hear some of the new songs at the two shows in Kingston yesterday. Then I came home and found the box set waiting for me. I listened in the night to the album in full, letting it slowly, carefully even as the intensity was amplified.

Today at Rough Trade East, they played another nearly hour set of all modern tracks, mostly from the new album but some from Bloodsports and Night Thoughts. I think that 'Wastelands' is probably going to be my favourite song from the album. Of course my camera ran out of memory so I didn't get the whole thing but the chorus just *speaks* to me. Yes, the world gets much too much, and sometimes I want to run away but what I really want to do is let the child in me play. Brett absolutely nails it. God, this makes me tear up.
