Format number, date, AutoFormat in Adhoc report module of Helical Insight version 5.0

Helical Insight version 5.0 adhoc module provides various different methods of data formaatting. In this video we are going to provide an overview of how to format numbers and date date time.

Number formatting options includes options like thousand seperator, prefix (like $ etc), suffix (like /- etc), percentage, numbers formatting in terms of K M B auto etc.

Whereas when the datatype is date/ datetime then you will get other kind of formatting options which includes formatting of hours to show in 12 hour format or 24 hour format, display/hide minute seconds milleseconds, display year as 2 digit or 4 digit, display quarter as number or abbreviation or hide it completely, day formatting options like whether it should show value or it should start with zero in case of 1 to 9, display week as number (like 1 2 etc) or abbreviation (like W1 W2 etc) or full (like Week1 Week2 etc). Also there are options to decide where all this will affect like in the pane, tooltip, axis, label and actions.

Further from version 5.2.3 onwards, autoformat options are added which auto formats numbers and dates as soon as they are added which can allow to save time. In this video we have covered how to disable that. Further, "space before formatting" allows to add space before K M B and numbers options is also covered here.
