Anglu ta' Marsaxlokk

Anglu (Angelo) was preparing his small 80+ year old luzzu (Maltese fishing boat) so that he can move off from the promenade before the feast of St. Gregory, which falls on the first Wednesday after Easter Sunday. Wirt iz-Zejtun: "The feast is mainly a religious one, focus around a pilgrimage which up to some decades ago used to start at dawn from Mdina. However today, many flock to Marsaxlokk to spend a whole day playing tombola, listening to Għana and eating all sorts of food without knowing anything about the true meaning of this celebration." The feast aslo unofficially heralds the swimming season. I shot this video of Anglu on March 12, after the general election which was won by a landslide 35,000+ votes by the Labour Party.
