A hugely mistaken concept in the world of sales is the ‘sell me this pen’ concept. Originally developed by one of the best salespeople in the world, Jordan Belfort.

Anyone who had the opportunity to view the movie ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ would have heard of that concept, yet, it might have been misunderstood as trying to measure the sales skills of new interns.

While Jordan clearly other plans in mind, those have not been stated in the movie.

Jordan wanted the intern to ASK rather than try to sell. He was trying to get people to understand that stuffing the pen down customers' throat was not the best approach but rather asking them about their needs was the main job.
