*THURROCK OPEN TOP SPECIAL* | Journey On Ensignbus Route 73 | 339 (TSU 639)

On Wednesday 10th to Saturday 13th August. Ensignbus held a special open top event known as the Thurrock Open Top Special (#BeCool) event featuring TSU 639, a Dennis Trident ALX400 open top that was new to Stagecoach London in 1999 as TA78 (17078) before going to Cambridge after 4 years of London use at Barking BK. It was only converted to Open top in 2012 for use on the CitySightseeing Cambridge Tour (got reregistered to the current reg from T678 KPU at the same time) before heading to Ensignbus. On Wednesday, It ran the 73 (which was the day this was filmed). On Thursday, it ran the 83, On Friday, it ran the 22 and 44 and on Saturday, it ran the 73 and 83 with a Z1 morning trip to Amazon Tilbury as an added bonus. The bus, although being new as a euro 2 (with the original engine), was retrofitted (dk when) with a euro 4 engine but the rather loud voith makes it sound more like a euro 3 to me (still has the same 3 speed gearbox from new). This bus isnt used much although it gets hired out from time to time and has made special appearances on the 68 before, though not this year.
