Rock and Roll Histories: What Happened to Budgie?

NOTE: I misspoke in the video and said that Poland was part of the USSR in the Cold War. Of course, this isn't true - I meant to say "Soviet satellite state". Nevertheless, Budgie were still one of the first heavier groups to play behind the Iron Curtain, which was the point I was trying to make.

You ever hear of a band called Budgie? Unless you're a die-hard rock enthusiast, odds are you probably haven't. Despite having an over 30-year long career and music that rivals any other classic rock legend, Budgie have unfortunately remained an untouched gem within the music world.

What makes them so special? For starters, they hold accomplishments that only other bands could dream of, such as being the first heavy metal band to play behind the Iron Curtain (nearly ten years before the infamous Monsters of Rock festival in Soviet Russia). They also hold fairly high album chart positions, and have toured the world multiple times. And their music is no lower than top-notch.
