#Jerusalemachallenge - McCord Eye Hospital - KZN

McCord Provincial Eye Hospital is the former Semi Private Hospital that was taken over by the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health in February 2014. Services offered are at Provincial level and therefore all patients need a referral from other Health care providers. There is no general outpatients. The Hospital has 100 beds. We face a daily challenge because of Gender Based Violence. Most of the trauma injuries we see are results of violence.

We want to bring awareness to the current situation that we find ourselves in. We need more funding and resources to help victims of Gender Based Violence that suffer from preventable cataract blindness due to trauma.
