A playthrough of Jaleco's 1991 NES game, The Last Ninja.

This is a US-only conversion of the super popular C64 game (The Last Ninja 2) developed by the Australian company Beam. They did a pretty decent job of the port.... until they effectively ruined it with some of the most frustratingly unreliable collision-detection known to man. If you can handle that though (and don't mind endlessly hunting for the right pixel to stand on to pick up an item), the game is a completely unique title in the NES library, and has some really cool moments (mainly involving ninja swording homeless winos in the street). Don't be fooled by the run-time though. It took me YEARS to memorize this damn game well enough to be able to beat it without dying (even though I did die a few times in this video... oops). It's certainly not a push-over.

Oh, and that turkey leg that you knock out the basement puma with is covered in opium. Yeah, that's what the random sewer box full of powder was. Opium. There's nothing quite like 80s logic in video games, is there?
