Dropshipping vs Starting Your Own Brand - What's Better?
My own business did $1.7m in revenue over 2.5 years. I've also lost in the tens of thousands of dollars in Dropshipping. I explain the pros/cons of dropshipping from my point of view, versus starting your own brand. I've had a deep experience in both of them and wanted to share my thoughts as well as how to spot a dropshipping website right away by reviewing a product page in real time.

There are a lot of pros/cons when it comes to dropshipping.
Pros:
1. Low startup cost - you can get started for less than $1,000 typically
2. Great intro to business
3. Easy way to test audiences and products to validate your idea.
Cons:
1. It's slightly frowned upon
2. Shipping time takes forever, which will cause problems with payment processors and getting chargebacks
3. It is hard to do right, 99% fail, 1% succeed
4. Actual startup capital may be more than $1k after factoring in ad costs
5. A lot of one time customers.
Starting your own brand has a lot of pros:
1. You can sell it in the future
2. Building a brand is fun and you'll learn a longer term marketing strategy
3. You'll have repeat customers
4. Build reputation among your customers, have great interactions, don't have payment processor issues, etc.
