Leopard and Crested Porcupine Face-off, Kidepo Valley National Park, Uganda. 5 December, 2021

Crammy Wanyama and I were headed back to Adere Savannah Lodge after a full, and very fulfilling, day in the park with UWA Ranger Zachari Logwe. It was already dark but in the headlights ahead Crammy spotted what was for both of us a most unusual wildlife confrontation between formidable opponents. The encounter in front of us lasted for about 30 minutes in total. The result, as far as we could tell, was a draw. Both animals walked off. We drove on is a state of disbelief..... this is not something one gets to see everyday.
