Now we take the Glacier Express from Disentis in the direction of Zermatt. The highest point on this railway line is the Oberalp-Pass at 2,033 meters.

Andermatt is reached. The old starting point of the passes Saint Gotthard, Oberalp and Furka. Today it is also an attractive winter sports resort. In Realp we are now boarding the Furka-Mountain Railway. Now the journey leads through the municipality of Goms, and soon we are in the canton of Valais.

Fiesch is ideal for relaxation and recreation, but also the starting point of the Aletsch Arena. The Great Aletsch Glacier, the longest glacier of the European Alps, bends in a wide arc from the Jungfraujoch towards Valais.

Now we have reached Brig, the historic merchant city in Upper Valais. From Täsch only trains connect Zermatt with the outside world. The Glacier Express ends here.
The most famous holiday resort in Switzerland and its famous mountain, the Matterhorn. With the Gornergrat-Railway you reach the Gorner glacier, the second largest continuous glacial area in the Alps.

Interlaken is situated between the Lakes Thun and Brienz. Brienz is the centre of Swiss woodcarving art. The Rothorn of Brienz is one of the most beautiful mountains in the Emmental Alps. The Lake Thun is narrow, and stretches for about 18 kilometres. Thun is the "Gate to the Bernese Oberland". Interlaken is also the starting point to the Jungfrau region.

Grindelwald is reached and then Bern, the capital of the Swiss Confederation. Typical for Bern are the arcades, which run along both sides of the alleys and are in total 6 kilometres long.

Today Neutral Switzerland is a popular meeting place for international negotiations and also a first-class tourist destination.
