Coastal Jazz presents Dominique Fils-Aimé | February 22 | Vancouver
Coastal Jazz is pleased to present a performance by rising star in the vocal jazz scene, Dominique Fils-Aimé, at Vancouver’s Fortune Sound Club on Thursday, February 22.
The JUNO Award-winning and twice Polaris-shortlisted Canadian artist will showcase her 4th album, Our Roots Run Deep, released in September 2023. Dominique puts the history of African-American musical culture into the heart of her work.
Her new show invites you to delve into the roots of her soul with a strong desire to connect with one's higher self, and the intention of enveloping you in a soothing aural embrace. The evening will include an opening performance by Vancouver's own ebonEmpress, who performed live at the 2023 Vancouver International Jazz Festival presented by Coastal Jazz.
Fils-Aimé won a Felix in 2019 for Jazz Album of the Year, a JUNO Award in 2020 for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year and was nominated for the prestigious Polaris Music Prize shortlist in both 2019 and 2021.
CBC Music's Andrea Warner described Our Roots Run Deep as Fils-Aimé's "most thrilling record yet" and noted her "evolution toward mastering her craft in just six short years."
Tickets are available at http://www.coastaljazz.ca.
The 39th annual Vancouver International Jazz Festival returns June 21 - 30, 2024!
