Medivac landing in Shokan, NY 11-21-12

Two car head-on accident on Route 28 in Boiceville NY; three patients - 2 transported by Stat Flight in separate helicopters and one transported ALS to Kingston Hospital. This chopper had the female driver, the male driver will go in the second one. Landing zone was Grant Avery Park off Bostock Rd. For those who don't know -this is how it works: The chopper lands, the flight crew (medic or flight nurse) go to the waiting ambulance, get in, assess the patient, package the patient for their gurney; firemen help load the patient into the chopper, chopper takes off to one of two trauma centers, for us in Olive they either go to Albany Med or Westchester, they will fly to St. Francis if they feel the patient won't make it any further. We do not fly patients in cardiac arrest. Then the ambulance will go "out of service" if it's trashed and will be cleaned and decontaminated before going back into service.
