Why Unreal Editor feels slow on a Mac

I used Quartz Debug to compare Conjure, Unity 2017, and Unreal Engine 4. My guess is the entire UI is done in OpenGL, and they’re constantly flushing the buffer. This is fine during gameplay, but bad for not for editing. It can rapidly deplete your battery on a laptop, and spins the CPU fans up pretty fast since the GPU is going full speed, all of the time.

On the massive upside, I realize UE is open source, and this is the kind of thing I've fixed in several OpenGL based MacOS apps before, so I will take a look at it soon, unless someone beats me to it.
