2014 BMW X5 xDrive35i Review
2014 BMW X5 review and cool features.
For sale at Auto City in El Cajon, CA. 2014 BMW X5, xDrive35i with just under 40,000 miles!
There’s a reason BMW proclaims their cars to be the “Ultimate Driving Machines” and the proof is right here in this X5. German engineering, impeccable design, power, performance and handling, plus state of the art technology put this SUV so far ahead of the curve. It eats it’s competitors for breakfast.
This X5 is powered by a 3.0 liter, DOHC Inline 6 cyl. engine with 24 valves and TWIN powered turbo, delivering you 300 horsepower while achieving an impressive (for it’s 4790 lb. curb weight), 27 MPG’s/Highway. Paired with an 8 speed shiftable automatic transmission, and BMW’s xDrive AWD system, this car pulls hard, shifts smooth, and grips the road just as good as it’s smaller, coupe siblings.
The car features multiple drive modes to match your driving style and your surrounding environments. Choose from Normal, Eco, Comfort and Sport modes. Comfort mode makes for a really smooth, luxurious ride, but I liked Sport mode the best! Also, gain more control over your engine with optional manual shift mode. Unlike other modern cars with optional manual shift, this car actually feels great to drive manually. The shifts are quick and responsive, and the flick of the auto shifter has a nice solid “thunk” to it. It’s a really great driver’s car. BMW is famous for making cars where you feel a connection to the road, this X5 is no exception.
Full leather seating all around, plenty of space in the back seats for 3 full size adults, plus a panoramic sunroof large enough for your rear passengers to enjoy the California sun as well. The trunk also features so many conveniences such as hooks, tie downs and netting, making this X5 a real utility vehicle. Haul anything with ease and security.
This car is a technological masterpiece. If your a tech/gadget person, this is the car for you. Features include BMW’s iDrive system, controlled by a center console mounted wheel and monitored on it’s absolutely crystal clear, HD display. Everything in this car is adjustable and customizable. I spent about 20 minutes just going through the menu options, and I still have so much to learn about this car. BMW’s “Connected Drive” is also on board, giving you smart apps, and assistance systems to increase your driving pleasure. You also have a fully adjustable head-up display, projected onto the windshield.
The camera system features a standard back-up camera as well as a front camera, giving you a clear view of the ground ahead of you. Such a smart idea for an SUV with elevated ride height. Parking assist technology also features a birds eye view camera system, surveying surrounding elements, along with proximity warnings, if you’re nearing another car, or obstruction. It’s simply amazing.
I’ve barely scratched the surface of what this car has to offer. After spending 20 minutes with it’s iDrive system, I just wanted to drive it. It was so refreshing to get behind the wheel of a BMW again. Don’t let the size fool you. This is a fast, sporty car with amazing performance and handling.
