"Start small. Build up." —Josh Albrecht (Imbue) on scaling to 100 agents at the mngr launch

Recorded at the mngr launch event hosted by Imbue in San Francisco.

Josh Albrecht (CTO, Imbue) walks through what actually breaks when you scale from 1 agent to 10, 30, then 100, and how to build your way out of each bottleneck.

The conversation covers: fan-spinning test suites eating your cores (and why they built Offload to farm tests into Modal sandboxes), code review becoming the new bottleneck at 30 agents, using an agent to review the agents (Vet), a Claude Code plugin with stop hooks that keeps agents working until all issues are resolved, and why stacked commits ordered by importance change how fast you can ship at scale.

The frame that ties it together: go through the workflow manually a few times, recognize the pattern, then slowly turn it into code. You build up, piece by piece.

mngr is Imbue's open-source CLI for running coding agents in parallel, on any compute, without being locked into a platform.
