Cay Pointe Villa Wedding - Melissa & Christopher

Wedding of Melissa & Christopher Pavlow on October 23rd, 2021 at Cay Pointe Villa on Indian Rocks Bch, FL, shot by Tampa Videographer Celebrations of Tampa Bay https://celebrationsoftampabay.com/

Our love story began in October 2015...

On a warm autumn evening Chris and Melissa met in St. Louis. Chris, a Bostonian who had grown up in Connecticut, was well into his first semester at Washington University’s Olin School of Business. Melissa, a Chicago native, had graduated from SLU Law a couple years prior and was a practicing attorney. Neither had particularly high expectations in dating, nor were either looking for anything serious at the time. However, one memorable date at Planter’s House changed all of that for both of them.

As many modern rendezvous happen these days, Chris and Melissa met through the dating app Tinder. However, their first date did not happen under usual circumstances. Chris's experience was more typical – he found Melissa attractive (C: I mean how could you not… hubba hubba!”) and swiped right. Melissa, on the other hand, did not “choose” Chris. She was out on a girls’ night, and the group decided to play a couple of games at the bar. One of those games was seeing who could get the most matches on Tinder in a minute. The girl with the most matches got all of her drinks bought for her for the evening. Melissa did not get the most matches... she came in second. As a result, she had to do a dare… she had to go on a date with one of the matches chosen by the other girls. Luckily, the other girls were kind to her and chose a 6’3” green-eyed former attorney / current business student. Even though Melissa didn’t match with the most people that night, we like to think that she she still “won” the game.

Fast forward to the night of the first date… Chris and Melissa had made plans to meet for drinks on Friday, October 23 at Planter’s House, a bar known for its great craft cocktails (and just so happens to be their favorite bar in St. Louis). Because they were both very busy, they decided to meet a little later in the evening after other, previously-made plans.

Chris, eager to meet his date, arrived first; Melissa arrived a few minutes later. As she walked up to the door and saw him sitting at the bar, she froze and almost turned around and ran (M: “Can you blame me? He was so CUTE!”). Fortunately for both of them, Chris was on the lookout and saw Melissa approaching, made eye contact and smiled. Melissa took a deep breath, put on her big girl pants, and walked in to her date.

As soon as they were both seated at the bar, the conversation just flowed. There was a lot of laughing, a lot of flirting, and plenty of liquid courage flowing ($5 beer-and-whiskey-shot combos were too good of a deal to pass up!). Before they knew it, the bar was closing for the evening. Chris and Melissa exited the bar and lingered a bit on the sidewalk, neither wanting to leave the other’s company. The beverages must have done their job, because when Chris coyly relayed that he did not kiss on first dates, Melissa cheekily smiled and replied, “Looks like we’ll just have to have our second date now.”

Since then we have grown and shared endless hours of laughter and joy together, as well as our fair share of tears and heartache. We have had adventures in St. Louis, traveled to Europe and Asia, got engaged in Berlin, and started a new life for ourselves in Philadelphia. After what will be four-and-a-half years of early morning Liverpool games, escapades with our dog Harley and cat Jasmine, wilderness hikes, and gourmet meals prepared from scratch in our kitchen, we are each excited to say “I do” to our best friend for life.
