Nuzlocke Rules:
Rule 1: If the Pokemon faints, it is considered DEAD. You must either release the Pokemon or deposit it within your PC.
Rule 2: You may only catch the first Pokemon in each route,
unless it falls under the Species/Shiny clause.
Rule 3: You MUST nickname your Pokemon to create a
stronger bond.
Rule 4: No reloading/resetting the game

Optional Rules
Rule 5: No overleveling past the next Gym Leader or Elite 4
Rule 6: Battle Mode Settings: SET (instead of SWITCH)
Rule 7: No potions or revives in battle

Soul Link Rules:
Rule 1: The two players play through the same game (or different games in the same generation, such as X and Y) simultaneously.
Rule 2: Encounters for players on each route are linked. If one player fails to catch their encounter for a route, the other player must box or release their encounter for that route as well. If both players successfully catch their first encounter for the route, those two Pokémon are “linked” as partners.
Rule 3: When one player’s Pokémon faints, its partner on the other player’s team must be boxed or released as well.
Rule 4: If a Pokémon is placed in the PC, its partner on the other player’s team must be placed in the PC as well.

Species/Dupes Clause: The "first wild Pokémon in each area" rule does not apply in an area until a species or evolution line is encountered that has not been caught yet. For example, if the player's first encounter in an area is with a Caterpie and they already own a Caterpie, Metapod, or Butterfree, it wouldn't count as their first encounter in that area. This is to allow for increased variety in a player's Pokémon collection.

Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver are 2009 remakes of the 1999 Game Boy Color role-playing video games Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal. The games are part of the fourth generation of the Pokémon video game series and were developed by Game Freak, published by The Pokémon Company and Nintendo for the Nintendo DS. The same generation that Pokemon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum were released thus having Pokemon available from that generation available in the game's National Dex. The game not only features the Johto region but allows players to cross over to the Kanto region.
