Fall Bass Fishing: From the Bank: Ambush Points: VFJ35
You may have heard the saying, “If you can find ‘em, you can catch ‘em.” Well, there’s nothing like confidence going in. But the fish, and the C&C they’re under, have a lot to say about that.
Lures, most simply, are not prey. The majority of the time lures need to do something special in order to get fish to mistake them for prey. In other words, when we catch a fish, that fish made a perceptual mistake. A big part of effective lure presentation is making that happen. And that’s what this VFJ illustrates, or at least provides an introduction to… to something that lies at the core of effective fishing: the concept of "Ambush Points".
Ambush points are something I’ll cover more completely in a future video, dedicated to the subject, because it’s such a critical and fascinating topic. I introduce the idea here, as it plays such a key role as to why these bass were so vulnerable to a certain presentation, turning “picky” bass into committed biters. Bass behavior, spinnerbait, swim jig, swimbait
