1:11 - What is ARK Invest?
Catherine Wood CEO and CIO of ARK Invest. She has been consistently giving really bullish predictions about Tesla in the past.

Since graduated from University of Southern California with a degree in Economics and Finance, she has accumulated over 40 years of experience in different companies. She currently manages $11 billion worth of assets.

The way ARK does things is different from Wall Street. Wall Street split their analysts by sectors, like automobile sector, semiconductor sector, energy and so on. Meanwhile, ARK Invest analyst focuses on platforms instead.

Using Tesla as example, as wall street analyst will see Tesla as an automaker who has to compete against Ford, General Motors which already has a huge market share. Meanwhile, ARK will have transportation analyst, Autonomous Tech analyst, Robotics analyst, Energy Storage analyst all researching about Tesla.

Second reason, traditional wall street analysts uses value investing to value a company. However that method is flawed is there are many companies which, over time won’t fit into our current time. Meanwhile ARK looks for companies that can bring disruptive innovation.

4:34 - What is disruptive innovation?
Innovation must meet a few criterias. First, the cost of production must decline, while demand needs to increase. Lastly, its technology will create a lot of new use cases. Using this model, ARK will look for companies that fulfills this criteria, and invest at the right time, which they call Prime Time. That’s how the ARK manages to spot companies like Tesla so much earlier than traditional wall street analysts. They look at future potentials, instead of past data.

ARKQ, autonomous tech and robotics
ARKW, next generation internet technology, like cloud computing, big data
ARKG, genomic revolution stuff like modifying your DNA, stem cells
ARKF, financial technology, like blockchain

And 2 passive ETFs are
PRNT, 3d printing
IZRL, innovative companies from Israel

You may think that ARK ETFs high returns were because of Tesla, however that is not the case for a few reasons. First Tesla occupies only 10% of the ETF. Second, after Tesla ran up, ARK sold off part of its holdings to rebalance the portfolio. And that’s why ARK is good, they will trade around volatility.

If you are unsure which ETF to pick, just choose ARKK because they have the best of everything. Personally, I will be choosing ARKK and ARKW, the next generation internet ETF. That’s because I want to be invested in everything, and I am more familiar with a lot of the internet companies.
