Parent's Prayer

"I invoke the full authority You have given me as a spouse and a parent."

Welcome to this powerful session of intercession from Encounter Pastoral Counseling. As parents and spouses, we are given a unique spiritual authority to advocate for the protection and healing of our households. This prayer is a formal exercise of that authority—a "Parent’s Plea" for the deliverance, reconciliation, and restoration of the entire family.

The Spiritual Authority of the Home:
In the Catholic-Christian Meta-Model of the Person, the family is seen as the "Domestic Church." This prayer is designed to help you stand in the breach for your loved ones, addressing both spiritual obstacles and psychological wounds.

Renunciation & Deliverance: Using the Holy Name of Jesus to reject and cast out the "spiritual pollution" of occult actions, curses, or evil influences affecting spouses and minor children.

A Plea for Adult Children: While adult children have their own agency, a parent’s intercession carries immense weight. We beg the Heavenly Father for their freedom and protection.

Healing the "Mental Plague": We specifically petition for the healing of the "wounds that plague us"—including depression, anxiety, compulsions, and addictions.

Restoration of Unity:
Family life is often the "arena" where our deepest resentments and divisions play out. This prayer calls upon the Fire of the Holy Spirit to:

Heal Estrangement: Asking for the grace of forgiveness to reconcile those who have been distanced from one another.

Infuse Peace: Moving the family away from "stinkin' thinkin'" and reactive anger toward a shared life in God's peace.

Restore Faith: Asking for the "Shield of Faith and the Sword of Truth" to protect the home and bring back those who have wandered.

Mention Specific Graces: When prompted, hold the specific needs of your family members in your Arena of Consciousness.

Rest in the Intercession: Lean on the powerful aid of the Virgin Mary and St. Joseph, knowing that you do not carry the burden of your family's well-being alone.
