The Memory of Wood and Stone

A video portrait of "The Cottage". I tried to create a specific meaning for this place through montage, and give the idea that the memory of the past is contained within it.

In the first half of the piece I wanted to convey the sense of this being a quiet place of archaic Americana, a quaint place that the tribulations of modern progress had passed over.

The tonal shifts in the second half are meant to create the feeling that the aged building is place full of memory, the memory of past lives and old souls now remembered only in the heart of the wood and stone.

The title is inspired by a quote from "Blood Meridian" by Cormac McCarthy: "[God] speaks in stones and trees, the bones of things".
