About Betelgeuse -
Betelgeuse has been surprising astronomers for the past while, because of its noticeable changes in brightness. It has been dimming and brightening again, and is on the edge of going supernova. If it does, it will be as bright as the moon, so we could see if during the day, during the night, possibly if its cloudy, for months. It is massive as well, with a diameter of about 1.2 billion miles compared to the suns diameter of 924,000 miles. No we are not going to be affected by the explosion if it does happen, you have to be within i think 50 lightyears away for it to affect you.
