#ARTEZA Square Sketchbook Review // Hand Book Co. Comparison // New Favorite Sketchbook?
Please read the description for more /updated info!!
⬇ ⬇ ⬇
This is my honest review of Arteza's square sketchbook and how I think it compares to the sketchbook I recently finished- Hand Book Journal Co. 'Large Portrait'.
(This description will be updated to any new information I receive about the capabilities of Arteza's paper.)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just as a disclaimer- the paper from Hand Book is very smooth (like Moleskine) while Arteza's paper has a lot more texture/tooth. I compared the two because they both claim to be mixed media and able to hold wet media.
For the most part I found Arteza's book/paper to be superior to Hand Book's. Arteza's paper is more heavy duty. The one thing that Hand Book has over Arteza is the ability to use pens/liners smoothly. BALLPOINT PENS that are very inky/wet are better suited for Arteza's textured paper rather then Micron or the Black Liner I tested.
-EXTRA INFO-
I realized I didn't talk much about GRAPHITE but I later tested it too. With any paper you can't sketch too hard if you might want to erase it. That being said, I think graphite works well on this paper- blending, layering, erasing, etc. Although I would advise not to use mechanical pencils on Arteza's paper as you might poke into the paper if you sketch fast. If you would like to see a graphite drawing I did in Arteza's book- I posted pictures on Instagram.
As for COLORED PENCILS such as Prismacolor- as far as I can tell they work quite well.
The paper is thick enough to not be dented on the under side after coloring. It's a very sturdy mixed media paper.
Feel free to ask me any questions about it whether it be in the comments or through Instagram!
