Logging Wedges Directing a Burnt Tree by Pressure

Directional tree felling depends less on brute force than on controlled pressure inside the trunk.

The wedges in this cut are not separating wood randomly. Each strike gradually transfers force through the remaining fiber, changing how the tree distributes load before collapse.

A burnt trunk can hold unstable internal tension after fire damage weakens outer layers while dense core fibers remain intact. Steel wedges driven into the back cut create controlled lift measured in millimeters, yet enough to redirect several tons of weight toward the intended fall line.

What appears slow from a distance is actually a precise sequence of force management. The wedges delay compression failure long enough for the logger to guide the center of gravity instead of reacting to it.

Traditional forestry still relies on small mechanical advantages because material behavior often matters more than raw power.
