It´s not that I haven’t tried…but Spanish is hard, when do you use formal or informal ( tu, usted, or vos)? I don´t want to offend anyone.

And while intiendo mas o menos…trying to speak?! I struggle with finding the right words when I go to speak….no puedo hablar bien español.

Once I tried to tell a sales lady that I was really embarrassed and instead I told her I was really pregnant …now that was embarrassing.

When I first moved to El Salvador I thought I would just learn the language naturally and in many ways I have but I also feel like what I know it’s a bit like swiss cheese (I have a lot of holes). I need structure.

Enough with the excuses here´s my 5 point plan
1 Solo hablar español los Viernes y Sabados -sin excusas
2 Read in Spanish 30 min every day
3 Watch TV in Spanish after 6:00

NOTE: My Youtube channel will remain predominantly English-Spanglish with English and Spanish subtitles
a. because while I am living in El Salvador and I am learning Spanish English is my first language it is how I am freely able to communicate and I want to say.
b. And one of the reason I originally started my channel was to share the beauty that is El Salvador with others that do not yet speak Spanish. They may not even know of El Salvador or they may only know what they read in the news, which is only a part of the story, and may otherwise never know how amazing El Salvador really is.

I do however plan on making more Spanish content on my tik tok and Instagram reels so make sure you are following me there @thatexpatmom to get updates and follow my progress on my Spanish learning journey. Please be kind because I´m learning and I will make mistakes. But that’s ok mistakes are how we learn.
