Game For a Laugh - The MK1 Ensemble

A long time ago in a country far far away. 1980's My one and only gig with a Double Bass just for a laugh. As described in the video, I answered an ad in the London evening standard asking for "rusty musicians'. This ended up being a set up for the show 'Game for a Laugh'.
I remember there were about 20 or so of us. One of the group decided it might be a good idea to record a single for Christmas. So he (the guy who wore a Beret is all I remember) set up a recording session at Abby Road no less. We all chipped in for this which was only a three hour or maybe less session. Long story short we were too late to release it before Christmas, so nothing came of it. However, the thing that I remember about it is the Beret guy getting us all to sign up to the musicians union at something like 20 something pounds. He brought in the official paper work at a meeting and collected the money himself. No membership details were ever sent to me nor anyone else as far as I know. So the Beret guy pocketed maybe around 500 pounds. Also, there was obviously a recording of the session at Abby Road but nobody heard anything of it. Beret guy had buggered off. Luckily a month or so after, the guy playing the orchestral cymbals contacted everyone saying he had managed to get a cassette and had copies made for everyone. So at least we got something out of it, no thanks to Beret guy but thanks to Cymbal man. Wish I remembered the names.
All in all it was a great experience being on the show and of course I can say I've recorded at Abby Road Studios! I guess you could say the cost of the fictitious musicians union membership was worth it? Shame about the Beret guy. You know who you are.
Enjoy!
