'Nowell Sing We' - Medieval English Anon., 13th century, performed by Daniel Mantey - Music All Sorts; alto recorder & hurdy-gurdy.

These old Christmas Carols are such great music, and so fresh as we often never hear them, and without words can be boogied to all year long? This is a great piece, and sounds perfect with an alto recorder and hurdy-gurdy. These pieces were certainly sung, and if played, on any available instruments.

I have seen this piece being called 14th and 15th century, but my source clearly stated 13th, so there we are. The chorus (when sung) clearly states that Jesus is the 'Prince of Peace' and I think that is the strongest holiday wish of mine; world peace! Happy, peaceful holidays! Oh, should mention that way back then (whenever) they had simpler, probably smaller recorders, and much smaller though perhaps noisier hurdy-gurdy, so my performance is not exactly 'authentic,' though very close, and I do use Pytharogian tuning!
